Oleg Polukhin, rector of the Belgorod National Research University “BelSU” and Frank Ressner, chairman of the Department of Technical Chemistry of the University of Oldenburg (Federal Republic of Germany) discussed prospects of inter-university cooperation.
Professor Ressner told about academic programs peculiarities at his University, credit-based modular learning system, aspects of graduates job placement in Germany.
According to the professor, academic mobility is widely spread at the Institutes and Universities of his country. Student, who entered one University, can easily choose another one, at which, from his point of view, subjects necessary for him are taught better.
At the meeting parties discussed legal issues of inter-university cooperation in the area of students exchange, questions, connected with the intellectual property protection among universities and young scientists, plans of future internships for students and postgraduates of “BelSU” and education in Germany.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Oleg Polukhin said that similar students education approaches were used in the global education area, in which both Universities were operating. He also added that the best aspects of German system of higher education would be easily applied in the Russian education area.
Background: Faculty of Biology and Chemistry has been working with University of Oldenburg and Professor Ressner since 2004. During this period at the German Department 4 postgraduates and one teacher of the Department of General Chemistry undertook semi-annual academic internship as a part of German Academic Exchange Service grants and also scholarship of the Russian Federation President.
Master’s Students of the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry, studying discipline “Chemistry”, have undertaken research internship three times. 5 joint works have been published.
Professor Frank Ressner is a regular participant of the international conference “Sorbents as a factor of life quality and health”, held at the Belgorod National Research University once per two years. Professor visits Belgorod to read lectures with the same regularity.
