Svetlana Ostrikova, vice rector for social and educational work, opened the exhibition. She thanked scientists of the University for their creative approach to the research activity. The students and employees of the University also participated in the opening ceremony.
Aleksandr Nikolaevich and Yury Georgievich are the most active participants in the exhibition activities of the Museum of History of the University. Thanks to them students and employees of the Belgorod National Research University were given a unique opportunity to see the look of the professional geographers on the nature of different countries. In 2012 authors of the exhibition introduced us the nature and architecture of several American states. The new exhibition offers to continue the journey through the national parks of the USA, where our scientists have conducted their research. Over 70 photos are represented at the exhibition.
From 1 till 19 July 2013 Y. G. Chender, A. N. Petin and V. I. Petina with the professors of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Faculty of Geography participated in the regular scientific expedition, organized by the American scientists of the National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment and the US. Department of Agriculture and the Iowa State University.
Field research was held at three main districts in the States North Dakota and Montana, though the expedition travelled all together across eight States of the USA. The total length of the expedition route was 6700 km. Besides scientific research Russian participants were able to visit the number of interesting places in the North America such as: the Theodor Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, the Yellowstone River Valley in the States Montana and Wyoming, the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, the Craters of the Moon National Monument in the State Idaho, potato fields, growing in the desert climate of Idaho, the Snake River Canyon, the Great Salt Lake in the State Utah. The authors of the exhibition told the guest about these wonderful places during the opening ceremony.
During this journey Russian scientists broadened their geographical horizons immensely. Each specialist with the geographical education should have such experience and now we are ready to share with all the people, who will visit the exhibition in the Museum of History of the Belgorod National Research University.
We would like to remind you that employees of the Faculty of Mining and Natural Resource Management have been conducting international scientific research as a part of the US. Civilian Research and Development Project, devoted to the topic “Forest Vegetation investment in the soil organic matter under artificial forest plantation – resources of bioenergetic products at the territories of the US. Great Valleys and Central Russian Upland” since 2012.
