Studying in Germany

Tubingen University is one of the oldest and the best universities of Europe. It was founded in 1477 and has 7 departments, including a Law department. One third of Tubingen’s population is students fr om Germany and other countries.

After the half a year of studies in German university, Anna Zhornik told about special aspects of studies in Germany.

“Academic year in Germany is divided into two terms: winter and summer. Winter term begins in October and ends in February. Summer term begins in April and ends in July. At the beginning of each term students chose courses they want to attend. The registration is available online at Campus-portal platform, where everyone can find detailed description of the course, its conditions and information about the teacher”, – said Anna.

The number of courses student should study varies depending on program (bachelor, master, postgraduate) and term. For example, the master’s student should attend 2 lectures and take two exams, 2 seminars and 1 blockseminar, but the student is free to choose lectures and seminars. They can also pass exams at the beginning of the new semester.

There is an Ilias online-platform at the Tubingen University, where student, who chose the course can get access to the literature for every class. Besides, the most popular place among students is library, wh ere they can find additional sources of information. Besides the central library, every department has its own library.
