BelSU hosts All-Russian competition

Athletes, trainers and fans were welcomed by the head of Physical culture and sport Department of Belgorod region Oleg Serdyukov who wished arm wrestlers good luck.

- We are glad to welcome you at the prestigious student's tournament which takes place in Belgorod region which is famous for its big achievements in this sport, - he said.

Vice principal for Culture and Education of the Belgorod State University Svetlana Ostrikova has noted that the championship has united the best of the best.

- Arm wrestlers, as well as other athletes, are people of force and will, - she said. – Only men have gone in this sport before, but now there are many beautiful girls among arm-wrestlers. We wish all of you to concentrate your spirit and achieve your goal. Let the old records be broken and new ones are set!

More than 130 athletes from 22 regions of Russia representing 39 higher education institutions have arrived to prestigious competition. These are arm-wrestlers from Moscow, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Oryol regions, the Republic of North Ossetia and other territorial subjects of the Russian Federation. According to the dean of BelSU Physical Education Department, the chief judge of competitions Igor Nikulin, the main competitors of the Belgorod arm wrestlers are representatives of North Ossetia (students of the North Caucasian mining and metallurgical institute and State teacher training college). There are many athletes, who represent the country team at World and European championships.

- We have high chances of a prize-winning place in a team competition, however the competition is very strong. It is difficult to predict something so we will be ill and believe in our children, - Igor Nikulin said.
