Regional Government House hosted the ceremonial opening of the pan-national "Memory-Watch 2018" event. The program was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Organised Search Movement of Russia and the beginning of the new search season
The event was organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Federal State Budgetary Institution 'Rospatriotcentr' and the 'The Search Movement of Russia' a pan-national social movement on preserving the memory of fallen soldiers who protected the Motherland, and with the assistance of the Government of Belgorod region. Students from BSNRU lead by Svetlana Ostrikova, the University's Vice President for Cultural and Educational Activity, took part in the opening ceremony.
Before the performance, Sergei Ivanov, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection Activity, Ecology and Transport, read a greeting from Vladimir Putin in which he expressed deep respect for the members of the Search Movement. Evgeny Savchenko, the Regional Governor, focused on the fact that the Belgorod Search Movement celebrates its fifty-year anniversary this year, and during this time the Scouts of the area have done huge work which is reflected in the monumental archival work 'The Book of Remembrance'.
Nikita Panov, the deputy director of Rospatriotcent, addressed the Belgorod Scouts with a speech of welcome, saying,
“You return names to the fallen soldiers, you find the facts, literally writing pages into the great account of the history of "Our Heroes". Thank you for your activity, personal involvement and devotion”
After the event Nikita Panov visited BSNRU and took part in a student debate called "Dialogue of Equals", after meeting project activists from the university. Students shared their experiences of patriotic projects undertaken by the Belgorod youth. Activists from the university also talked about participation in the pan-national events including "The Immortal Regiment", "Uniform Days", history quests, volunteering at the Victory Day parades and giving help to veterans.
