The new Hanseatic League of Universities was created at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands with active participation from BSNRU.
A delegation from our University included Dr Vladislav Kuchmisty, the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Dr Olesya Serkina, the acting Deputy Director of International Activities at the Institute of Economics, and a leading expert from the Center for the Strategic Development and Scientometric Research. Together, they took part in events dedicated to the celebration of the 220th anniversary of the founding of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze UAS), in Groningen.
Other guests included strategic partners of Hanze UAS, notably, University College Leuven-Limburg from Belgium, Beijing Technology and Business University, the Tampere University of Applied Sciences from Finland, Incheon National University from South Korea, Uganda Christian University, University Dar es Salaam from Tanzania, and Northern Arizona University from the USA.
The celebrations that took place at Hanze UAS were all about 'Empowerment', the theme being 'Benchmarking and Ranking'. In keeping with this, 12th & 13th April saw an international conference which was dedicated to the issues around ranking universities. On the final day of the conference, the results of the U-Multirank ranking were analysed. These results can be used in the successful development of international cooperation.
BSNRU also held working meetings with representatives from Hanze UAS and other universities working in Life Sciences, Healthy Ageing and International Business, some of which resulted in preliminary agreements being reached on cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
One of the main results of the celebration was the creation of the New Hanseatic League of Universities, designed to further expand opportunities for joint programs. Dr Kuchmisty commented that,
“Representatives from all the nine universities that signed the declaration on the establishment of the League expressed their desire to establish and develop cooperation in education and science, as well as in academic mobility.”
