BNRU Students Visit Germany

The University's involvement with the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD)) facilitated a journey to visit Leipzig and Freiberg

Dr Elena Shcherbinina, of the Pedagogical Institute's Department of German and French, led a group of on a visit to the University of Leipzig and the Freiberg Pedagogical University (Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg).

In Leipzig, our students participated in lectures and seminars alongside German students. Professor Claus Altmeyer, Chair of Philology at the University of Leipzig, spoke about the wide range of programs on offer at the University, delving into educational policy and departmental structure. The students were very impressed with the tour of the University library, one of the largest academic libraries in Europe.

Then it was on to Freiburg, where our team was met by Dr Dennis Strömsdörfer, head of the Master's program at Freiberg Pedagogical University. The visit was marked by tours of the University and the town, and a special reception for our students. Since 2016, BNRU and Freiberg Pedagogical University have been cooperating in an academic exchange program, and awarding scholarships for academic exchange purposes. This year the DAAD agreed to fund exchanges in line with their Germanistische Institutspartnerschaften (GIP) program. This includes scholarships for exchange programs in other German universities.
