BNRU Hosts Regional Arm Wrestling Championship

Professor Igor Nikulin, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education at BNRU, presided over the competition which drew more than 70 athletes from the Region to the Burevestnik Sports Complex

The event is a qualifier for the National Competition, and success means inclusion in the Regional team. Under 18s were included in the categories. The main event saw a strong showing from current and former students from our University. Star of the show was Elizaveta Reshetnik, already a National Master of Sport, she disposed of the competition with ease to take the 50-55Kg category gold. Two candidates for Master of Sport status, Anatoly Zaporozhsky and Dmitry Shukhovtsev, took gold in their respective 65-70Kg and 90-95Kg categories. Of the ten BNRU alumni taking part, Maxim Polupanov, Rustam Abdi Ogly and Ekaterina Grishchenko all took silver medals in their categories.

Among our current students Edvard Nikulin, studying at the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technology, took victory in the youth division. The Pedagogical Institute's Faculty of Physical Education made a big impression, with Mikhail Vasilyev, Mikhail Kudryashov, and David Shamei winning in their categories, and Ksenia Ivanchuk taking home silver. There was also a third place finish for Tatiana Bragina, a student at the Institute of Earth Sciences.
