Belgorod State University and Moscow State University have signed an agreement to work together to expand BSU's research capabilities in medical chemistry
The agreement was signed by Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BSU and Professor Viktor Sadovnichiy, Rector of MSU. The agreement covers the exchange of scientists, graduate students and senior researchers, and allows for teacher training, exchange of research, structural development, and the organisation of joint scientific events. The impetus for this closer relationship was the desire of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology to dramatically expand their teaching program. Dr Olga Lebedeva, Deputy Director of the Institute for Research and International Affairs, said that this kind of integration was possible when the need arises. She explained why BSU had teamed up with MSU, saying,
“MSU's Department of Medical Chemistry has experience in implementing Medical Chemistry Master's programs, and is ready to provide us with support as we develop and implement such a program at our university. Our teachers will be able to complete advanced training courses in Medical Chemistry, and Modern Problems of Chemistry at MSU. This is the beginning of a new level of cooperation, and is already yielding tangible results.”
The current agreement is part of the general program of general integration of research and teaching announced by the Ministry of Education early in 2018. Shortly after that Professor Andrei Peresypkin identified an opportunity and travelled to MSU to open the negotiations that have now born fruit.
