Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of Belgorod State University, hosted a meeting reviewing the way science is taught, and listened to reports on progress in our Research Labs and commercial companies
Dr Maxim Ivanov, Director of the Engineering Centre, took to the floor to report on the commercial ventures we are involved in, namely pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering and 'Lean Manufacturing' consultation. He said that 2018 was a year where all key targets were hit. In 2019 he is excited about the prospects for the creation of diagnostic systems based on the work of the 'Pharmacology of Global Living Systems' research laboratory, and 'Technological Systems' lab. While pleased, the Rector urged the Engineering Centre to do more to realise the full potential of science undertaken at the University.
Next Dr Alexander Zhikharev, Head of the Research Department, proposed an amendment to the draft of the University's 'System of Selective Support for Young Scientists program. He asked that a 'Scientists Against Myths' festival be held, where researchers confirm or refute various myths and stereotypes common in society. He also proposed a 'Science Battle', where they will defend their projects against each other.
