The forum, which involved the 50 top legal minds in Russia, was held by the Commission for Public Control and Interaction with Public Councils. The theme was 'Integrating Mediation into Modern Legal Practice as an Alternative Procedure for Resolving Disputes.' Dr Rubanov spoke on 'The Present State of Mediation and Advocacy', which touched on topical issues in mediation and the development of mediation as a legal tool. He explained,

“Mediation is currently one weapon in a lawyer’s arsenal. Defending the rights and legitimate interests of a party in court proceedings and winning the case is a valuable skill, but a lawyer who is able to reconcile both parties without bringing the case to court is an invaluable specialist.”
The forum also tackled the subject of how to use mediation in various areas of society, and the participants shared their experiences of the mediation process.
