Dr Inna Buynyakova and Dr Irina Shumakova led a team from Belgorod State University to Ulaanbaatar to help screen applicants for student places in the Russian Federation
The testing took place for 5 days from 18th March, and was based in the capital city's large Russian Centre for Science and Education. It is run by Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Government's service for the promotion of Russian language and culture, which also serves as business liaison, as well as offering a focal point for Russians living in the area. The Centre was opened in 1976, and is the largest in the Asia-Pacific region, which reflects the volume of work our country does with the people of Mongolia.
Our colleagues were there by invitation of Tatiana Budaeva, the Acting First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Mongolia, and head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, to go through more than 1,400 Mongolian applicants for places in Russian universities. Only 500 will be allowed through. Our University currently has 5 Mongolian students, studying at various faculties.
