Major Dentistry Conference

The theme for this year's forum was 'Surgical, Orthopaedic and Orthodontic Solutions in the Treatment of Severe Forms of Defects in the Dental System'. The specialists in all things dental were able to hear colleagues reports and findings on rare and common pathologies and malformations. Professor Alexander Zimbalistov, Deputy Director of our Medical Institute, and Head of Dentistry, highlighted the importance of such gatherings in his welcoming speech, and the increasing role played by our University. Our Dentistry School is well-regarded, as evidenced by the number and variety of specialists present at the forum.

The 7^th Annual Student Dentist Conference was timed to coincide with the Forum, and our guests were most impressed with the project presented by Nikita Anisov of Smolensk State University. I am sure it was very interesting, but the best student project from our University was Alyona Lashchenko's report on 'A Comparative Assessment of Methods for Determining the Working Length of the Root Canal', in which she talked about her experiments, and emphasised the key role played by dental treatment in a patient's overall health.
