A 'Wave of Remembrance'

The 'Wave of Remembrance' was observed nationwide, and, for us, began on the afternoon of the 8^th May, with Dr Victoria Tarabaeva, Director of the Pedagogical Institute, leading a group from the University up to the memorial at the soldier's mass grave near the airport. Dr Tarabaeva said a few words about the inspiration we can draw from the heroism and sacrifice made by these young men. On VE Day itself, the staff and students laid wreaths at the Eternal Flame and the Grieving Mother Monument, and observed a minute's silence. The University was well represented at the main commemorations that ensued thereafter.
