Belgorod State University hosted its 14th annual Geology Symposium. This years theme was the 'Development of Mineral Resources and Underground Construction in Difficult Waterlogged Conditions'
The symposium was organised by Rostec, the State Corporation for Assistance to Development, Production and Export of Advanced Technology Industrial Product, the University, and VIOGEM, a Belgorod based mining research institute. The event attracted scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences, mining and processing plant engineers, project designers and researchers from Kazakh and Russian enterprises. The focus for the symposium was drainage, geological data collection, rock structures, and the special mining techniques and technologies needed in challenging conditions.
Dr Igor Konstantinov, the Vice-Rector for Science, welcomed participants with a report on the successes achieved by the Institute of Earth Sciences in its first full year. The 3 day program consisted of 40 presentations and demonstrations of the work being carried out by participants.
