Dr Olga Yarygina, a Senior Lecturer at Belgorod State University's Department of English Language and Teaching Methodology, has been admitted into the Scandinavian Association of Cognitive Linguists
She was in Denmark to take part in the 7th annual Scandinavian Association of Cognitive Linguists (SACL) conference, hosted by Aarhus University. This year, the Association conference drew scholars from fifteen countries. Among the noteworthy were, Dr Morten Christiansen from Cornell University in the USA, Judith Holler of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen in the Netherlands, and Dr Alexander Huth of the University of Texas at Austin in the USA. Dr Sean Roberts from the University of Bristol, Professor Sophie Scott of University College London, and Professor Ewa Dąbrowska from the University of Birmingham, came from the UK for the conference. Dr Yarygina presented a paper that she co-authored with her colleague Dr Svetlana Stepanenko on 'Developing a Pedagogical Institute for Science and Innovation'.
The SACL was formed in 2009 as a way of combining research from linguists and cognitive scientists, and membership will give Dr Yarygina the opportunity to develop research partnerships involving our University in the near future.
