Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of Belgorod State University, has signed an agreement for our University to host the annual conference of the New Hanseatic League of Universities in 2021, while attending this year's conference in Incheon, South Korea
The New Hanseatic League of Universities (NHLU) is a group of universities from across the globe, founded by the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands in 2018. It includes our University, the Tampere University of Applied Sciences from Finland, University Colleges Leuven-Limburg from Belgium, Beijing Technology and Business University from China, Incheon National University from South Korea, Northern Arizona University from the USA, Uganda Christian University from Uganda, the University of Dar es Salaam from Tanzania, and the Bremen University of Applied Sciences from Germany. The 2nd annual conference was held in Incheon, the 3rd will be in Arizona, and the 4th will be in Belgorod.
The Rector, alongside Vice-Rector Vladislav Kuchmisty, and Dr Olesya Serkina, took part in a meeting before the main conference, where they agreed on a draft constitution for the NHLU, and agreed on practical matters. The conference itself saw our team contributing work on building international and local partnerships, and fostering entrepreneurship through science. The guest of honour at the opening ceremony was Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the UN. Following the conference, delegates had a chance to visit Samsung BioLogics, and had an opportunity to discuss a new University ranking system.
