A student of Belgorod State University took part in the international summer school on numismatics
The International Summer School on Numismatics, in which Vladimir Bredikhin, a student of history and philology at the Pedagogical Institute, took part in Antalya, at the base of the Koç University’s Center for Mediterranean Civilizations Research. Most of the participants in this English-speaking school were students from Turkish universities, and students from France and Poland also took part. Vladimir became the only participant from Russia.
The school’s lecturers were Peter van Alfen, a prominent researcher at the American Numismatic Society, and Oguz Tekin, a professor at the University of Koch. The lectures examined the coins of various civilizations of the ancient world in a historical context: Lydian; archaic, classical and Hellenistic Greece; Persian, as well as the Roman (Republican and imperial periods) and the Byzantine. For students, practical classes were held on the identification of rulers, symbols, objects and deities on various coins, as well as on the practice of minting antique coins.
