Governor of the region Yevgeny Savchenko presented the REC development program “Innovative solutions in the agricultural sector”, the locomotive of which will be Belgorod State Research University
The first meeting of the Council of world-class scientific and educational centers led by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova was held at the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo. The council presented programs of five pilot centers, which received state support this year. The development program of the Belgorod REC was presented by the Governor of the Belgorod Region Yevgeny Savchenko. He said that the Research and Education Center, the main site of which will become Belgorod State Research University, has three tasks: the development of agricultural science, increasing the production potential of agricultural companies due to the commercialization of developments and improving the personnel training system. The REC will become a participant in such regional projects as the construction of a plant for the production of L-threonine, a plant for the fermentation of soybean meal, a plant for the production of protein flour, lipid concentrates, and a plant for the production of sweetener.
“According to the results of the implementation of the first stage of the REC's activity in the region, more than 3 thousand new workplaces will be created. The volume of proposed investments will be at least 15 billion rubles. By 2024, it is expected to increase the gross regional product by 20%, increase the enterprises involved in innovative activities to 25%, increase the export of agricultural products by 2.5 times, ”said Yevgeny Savchenko.
According to the governor, five scientific and production platforms of RECs have been created to date: “Breeding and genetic research, cell technologies and genetic engineering”, “Biotechnologies”, “Digital transformation of the agricultural sector and resource conservation”, “Food and veterinary product manufacturing, storage and processing agricultural products ”,“ Rational nature management ”.
“More than 200 doctors of sciences, 500 candidates of sciences, more than 2500 students and graduate students are planned to be involved in the REC. The work on attracting promising students from other countries of the world to the magistracy and postgraduate studies is highlighted in a special direction,” the head of the region said.
