"Live Surgery" at BelSU

The participants in the medical forum were Natalia Zubareva, Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region, Head of the Department of Health and Social Protection of the Belgorod Region, Igor Konstantinov, Vice-Rector for Science at Belgorod State Medical University, Anton Bondarev, Head of the Emergency Medicine Hospital, Belgorod Region Head Ophthalmologist, Head. Ophthalmological Center of OGBUZ "City Hospital No. 2", Ph.D., professor of the National Research University "BelSU" Victoria Bashuk, scientists, practicing ophthalmologists from Belgorod, Kursk, Kazan, Samara and Yaroslavl.

On behalf of the regional governor Yevgeny Savchenko, the forum participants were welcomed by the deputy governor of the Belgorod region, the head of the department of health and social protection of the population of the Belgorod region, Natalia Zubareva. Natalia Zubareva emphasized that the conference, which opened at the Belgorod State University, provides a unique opportunity to observe the progress of the operations of the best ophthalmologists in the country and exchange ideas and experience.

On behalf of the Rector of Belgorod State University, Professor Oleg Polukhin, the participants was welcomed by Vice-Rector for Science Igor Konstantinov, who noted that the conference will serve as an exchange of experience, new knowledge and achievements between scientists and practitioners of the leading ophthalmological centers of Russia. According to Igor Konstantinov, the university staff is focused on new technologies in education, science. The forces of the University’s specialists also provide live broadcasting of operations for conference participants directly from the operating rooms.

During the conference, the live broadcast of the implantation of the AcrySof® PanOptix Toric® multifocal intraocular toric lens from the ophthalmological center of the Belgorod emergency hospital was conducted by Moscow doctor Andrei Golovin. During the operation, the operation of the most advanced Verion diagnostic navigation system was demonstrated. The operations performed by the professor of Samara State Medical University Vadim Stebnev and the head doctor of the Kord Clinic in Kazan Anton Demidov were also demonstrated.

The topics of discussion at the conference were: vitreoretinal surgery with cataract phacoemulsification and IOL implantation, a modern look at the quality of life of patients with glaucoma, Panoptic toric lens implantation accompanied by Verion system, modern capabilities of 24-hour intraocular pressure control and others.
