The Times Higher Education Ranking placed Belgorod State University in the top five places to study engineering in the Russian Federation
The statistics place us fifth in the subject rating behind Moscow State University, ITMO in St Petersburg, Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University, and Tomsk Polytechnic University. The top ranked Russian University is 200th on the list of 1008 universities from around the world. 34 of them were from the Russian Federation.
Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of Belgorod State University, was particularly pleased, pointing out that we had achieved this despite receiving no additional funding through the '5-100 Project', which is a federal scheme for improving Russian higher education. He said,
“Naturally, we consider this to be a great success, and a proper result for our focus on developing engineering at the University, both in teaching and research. Despite not being involved in the 5-100 Project, we have, nonetheless, found the resources necessary to push our way up the ranking table. It helps that we have scientists here on Presidential Grants and Industrial Sponsorships, who are instrumental in the work we do.”
