An Office in Uzbekistan

The Centre is a physical manifestation of the Russian Federation's policy of exporting Russian education, and its purpose is to give a grounding in Russian language, culture, and educational values.

The Rector and his team visited some long-standing partner universities, Tashkent State Pedagogical University, the Samarkand Institute of Foreign Languages, and the Silk Road International University of Tourism. He also managed to find time to sign memoranda of understanding with the National University of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State University and the Qarshi Institute for Engineering and Economics. Areas of interest for our Uzbek partners centred around our postgraduate programs, and joint research efforts. Our University has 20 dissertation councils with the ability to award Doctorates. In Uzbekistan, Russian Doctorates are the gold standard, and Uzbek students are keen to be involved in Russian research, which is comparatively well-resourced.

The Rector was bestowed with an honorary Professorship at Qarshi State University, well-deserved in light of his personal dedication to promoting ties with Uzbekistan. At the moment, we have cooperation agreements with nine universities in Uzbekistan, resulting in three joint educational programs. There are 345 Uzbek students currently studying with us.
