Graduate students and undergraduates of the NRU “BelSU” conducted a comprehensive scientific work in the Netherlands
As part of the “Anthocyanins power” pilot project, a postgraduate student of the NRU “BelSU” pursuing the joint dissertation management program, Yaroslava Kulchenko together with Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Groningen, the Netherlands) has successfully completed the planned part of her dissertation research. According to the results of scientific laboratory work conducted under the guidance of Professor Rob van Haren, solar battery cells, which have successfully passed the first tests, were obtained using natural biologically active substances, anthocyanins. Until today, the manufacture of such cells required the use of synthetic azo dyes, which are harmful to humans.
The young scientist, together with the undergraduate of the NRU “BelSU” Department of General Chemistry, Alexander Pavlov, obtained and studied samples of lipsticks, creams and perfumes, which were highly appreciated at two Techno-Expo-2019 exhibitions in Groningen.
Yaroslava Kulchenko and Alexander Pavlov held three master classes for schoolchildren, during which they introduced children to useful biologically active substances - anthocyanins and showed their scope of use. Dutch schoolchildren were particularly interested in obtaining indicators from red cabbage extracts and using plant pigments in the anthocyanin lipsticks manufacturing
