Scientists of the NRU “BelSU” have proposed a set of coordinated technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and reliability of gas turbine aircraft engines and land-based gas pumping units
The project is being implemented at the NRU “BelSU” Resource Sharing Center “Technologies and Materials”, which provides certified world-class research and technological equipment, including the necessary set of standardized techniques. According to the project manager, Director of the Resource Sharing Center Damira Tagirova, the Russian aircraft industry currently poses a challenge for scientists – creation of new alloys for the production of new generation engines with increased energy efficiency, reliability and long service life. The NRU “BelSU” scientists have developed new heat-resistant aluminum alloys and technologies for producing integral final products of blisk low-pressure compressor type with high level mechanical properties. The elements of the composite gas turbine engine compressor blisk - blades and disk - are made using different technologies. Blades use additive 3D printing technologies, and the disk is cast using a modified heat-resistant aluminum alloy. According to Damira Tagirova, due to the used technologies integration, it will be possible to reduce the structure mass by more than fifteen percent, and also increase the product’s service life the significantly. The method of joining materials has become widespread and is used by such giants of heavy industry as Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed-Martin, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and others. The project of the NRU “BelSU” scientists will be presented at the online exhibition as part of the Russian-Chinese scientific and technical cooperation in May: http://www.ciep.gov.cn/node_302384.htm
