Research by the NRU “BelSU” students on topical virology issues of supported by the medical community

The visit of famous scientists is aligned with summing up the results of research work aimed at assessing the students and teachers’ attitude towards vaccination and discussing further plans for cooperation. Head of the Laboratory of Viral Hepatitis of the Institute of Vaccines and Serums named after I.I. Mechnikov Mikhail Mikhailov noted the need to strengthen educational work among students, teachers and employees on the viral diseases prevention and on the importance of timely vaccination.

- We focused on the fight against the vaccine lobby. There are whole groups of people in the world who are opposed to vaccination; this can have very bad consequences. The work performed by students of the Faculty of Medical and Preventive Care aroused great interest among researchers at the international conference,” said Mikhail Ivanovich.

According to Elena Malinnikova, chief freelance specialist on infectious diseases at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, a whole school of young, scientifically engaged researchers has been created at the NRU “BelSU”.

During their visit, the university guests met with the rector of the NRU “BelSU”, Professor Oleg Polukhin. The idea of holding an international virology conference at the university premises with the support from the Russian Office of the World Health Organization was discussed. There was also a discussion of further plans for cooperation with the Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Preventive Care Vladimir Fetter.
