Iraq-1 team wins the University Futsal World Cup

The tournament organized by the NRU “BelSU” Sports Club was held at the S. Khorkina Training and Sports Complex. 12 teams strove for victory at the tournament: Iraq-1, Iraq-2, Turkmenistan, Benin, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Engineering College, Ecuador, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Colombia and Cameroon. Each country fielded several teams, divided into four groups. The games were organized in a round-robin tournament fashion. The teams that took first place in their groups played in the semifinals and finals.

The team from Jordan and the Engineering College team played for the third place. The final score was 2:1 in Jordan’s favor. Long-time rivals, finalists of many university tournaments, the Iraq-1 team and the Ecuador team hooked up in the final game. The team from Iraq won 6:0 and became the champion of the University World Cup. Following the results of the tournament, the best players of the tournament were awarded certificates and memorable prizes: Steven Chica (Ecuador), Ali Lobani (Jordan), Ahmed Khazraji (Iraq-1).
