The NRU “BelSU” retains its presence in the Forbes ranking

Having scored 21.41 points, Belgorod State University is the only Belgorod region university included in the third Forbes ranking. The first place in 2020 is taken by the Higher School of Economics (68.07 points), followed by the Lomonosov Moscow State University (2nd place, 67.55 points) and MIPT (3rd place, 53.04 points).

The current rating was calculated based on the changed methodology. As before, three main metrics were taken into account in the calculation: Quality of education, Quality of graduates and Forbes Factor. The Quality of education parameter (responsible for 50 points out of 100) has undergone the most significant changes. This year, the indicator “Quality of teachers” (25 points) was included in the metric. In turn, this indicator includes the level of teachers' salaries, the percantage of teachers and students - 10 points each and the foreign teachers percentage (5 points). The parameter “International activity” (15 points) now includes an assessment of foreign students percentage at a university (5 points), organization of foreign internships (5 points) and joint double degree programs with foreign universities (5 points). The approach to calculating the “Graduate Quality” metric (30 points) has also changed. For this purpose, 127 questionnaires were sent to major companies with a request to evaluate the quality of graduates. Questionnaires were received from 59 enterprises. The approach to calculating the Forbes factor (20 points), which assesses the elitism of the institution, has also changed. Now the university’s position in international ratings (10 points), as well as promising Russians presence among the students and graduates is taken into account during the calculation.
