The NRU “BelSU” retained its position in the category Metallurgical engineering in the 76-100 group and took the 2nd place in the category among Russian universities in the published 2020 Shanghai ranking of world universities ARWU.
The ARWU-2020 ranking includes more than four thousand world universities specializing in 54 subjects in such fields of study as natural and engineering sciences, life sciences, medical and social sciences. Russia has expanded its presence in the first hundred from six to eight universities this year. At the same time, the number of Russian universities included in the ranking fell from 17 to 15.
“A high mark in the Shanghai ranking is an indicator of research and publication activity of the university. Despite increased competition, our scientists successfully continue their research in the field of materials science, patent new technologies and materials, publish a large number of scientific articles, including those written in co-authorship with foreign scientists,” commented the NRU “BelSU” Rector, Professor Oleg Polukhin.
The first five places in the same category are taken by Chinese universities. Three Russian universities are included in the ranking alongside the NRU “BelSU”. MISIS entered the group 51-75 (the 1st place in the national ranking) and Tomsk State University entered the group 101-150 (the 3rd place in the national ranking).
