Belgorod region can be proud of BelSU scientists

The Acting Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov, the Deputy Head of the Department of Internal and Personnel Policy – the Head of Science Department Yekaterina Zhuravleva visited the scientific and educational center, BelSU Botanical Garden.

The BelSU Rector Oleg Polukhin noted that the university proceeded to the second stage of Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology establishment, purchased cutting-edge equipment for the Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding, and launched the Laboratory of Experimental Botany availing world-class facilities.

The Head of the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Lyudmila Tokhtar, conducted an excursion presenting the technological process of growing plants through in-vitro method. Mikhail Tretyakov, the Head of the Laboratory of Genetics and Plant Breeding introduced the world-class facilities which enable scientists to carry out genotyping automatically.

The visit of the Acting Governor was finalized by a meeting with young scientists of Belgorod State University. According to Oleg Polukhin, the current scientific achievements of the university, its positions in the world rankings are the result of many years of work by the team, and young scientists play a big role in this today.

Vyacheslav Gladkov got acquainted with the projects implemented by the university’s young scientists - Alexander Kubankin, Nikita Stepanov, Ulyana Krut.
