COVID-19 lessons: scientific research, prevention through vaccination, developing community immunity

The scientific forum was opened by the Rector, Professor Oleg Polukhin, who spoke about the COVID-19 situation at the university and measures taken to prevent the spread of the infection.

Specialists in the field of immuno- and virology, infectious disease specialists also made reports reflecting global and local problems. They shared much of the unique information about the pandemic based on their research.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Elena Malinnikova (Moscow) spoke about specific symptoms, simplicity and at the same time complexity of the diagnosis, re-infection, importance of the state support.

In general, Elena Oglezneva, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the region, spoke about the epidemiological situation with coronavirus in Belgorod region. The students of BelSU Medical Institute also joined the discussion of the unanimous cooperation in countering the coronavirus infection.

Mikhail Mikhailov, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Vaccines and Serums named after V.I. Mechnikov, focused on the importance of such events, their great contribution to information enrichment of the medical community and thanked Oleg Polukhin for the initiative to hold the event.
