Andrei Golovnev, a famous ethnographer and anthropologist, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences conducted a lecture at Belgorod State University
The lecture by Andrei Golovnev, the laureate of the Russian Federation State Prize was organized as part of the professional program “Methods of Visual Anthropology in History, Literature and Culture Studies” for the teachers and students of Pedagogical Institute, History and Philology Faculty.
The scientist covered the problem a man’s quest for himself in the society of post-modernism. Being tired of metanarratives, the human turn to local stories, short texts and “fragmentary experience”.
Andrei Golovnev drew attention to the fact that ethnographic methods are excellent for studying communities of this type. The research in the context of virtual ethnography is developing very dynamically, and most importantly, it gives tangible results and enables a better understanding of the processes taking place in the cyberspace.
All these issues have become quite pressing in the condition caused by Covid-19 and the measures taken by the society to protect against it. As the scientist noted, the new virus is a mirror of the cyber revolution.
Andrei Golovnev also went on a field trip to the open-air museum “Muravsky Shlyakh - Belgorodskaya line” during his visit to Belgorod.
