Representatives from Ecotrans LLC, the industrial partner of BelSU, and the Department of Science of the Belgorod region discussed at a meeting the implementation of the REC project to create technologies for processing organic agricultural waste into adsorbents and backfill soils for landfills
Alexander Vezentsev, Professor of the Department of General Chemistry at BelSU, is the leader of the REC “Innovative solutions in Agri-Business” “Development of technology for processing organic agricultural waste into adsorbents and backfill soils for landfills” project. An experimental batch of sorbents will be created based on the Ecotrans waste processing plant. Such sorbents clean water from petroleum products and unpleasant odors. The main advantage of the technology is environmental friendliness and safety.
Alexander Vezentsev noted that it is planned to create more jobs at the waste recycling plant and environmental chemistry laboratory under the agreement with Nikolay Shein, Director General of Ecotrans. This will help to develop ways of processing vegetable biomass and organic waste.
The ecological chemistry laboratory will join the network with the Moscow State University and the Zelinsky’s Institute of Organic Chemistry, which will establish a scientific school in the Belgorod region. The implementation of the project will partially solve waste recycling issues of the region.
