The creation of a thermoelectric material and structure laboratory was discussed at a meeting of BelSU Council for Scientific and Innovative Manufacturing Activities
Vladimir Khovailo, the intended head of Thermoelectric Materials and Structures Research Laboratory, noted that its creation will expand research in the field of material physics and will allow the development of efficient thermoelectric materials and structures, including for renewable and environmentally friendly power production.
The main tasks are research, study and synthesis of advanced thermoelectric materials, which are in high demand in the conditions of the Far North or in space. Their large-scale production is in long-term plan.
Manufacturing and bench testing of thermoelements for power production purpose, development of technological techniques are the areas that will distinguish the laboratory among similar domestic and foreign research associations.
Vladimir Khovailo drew attention to that a powerful material base at BelSU has been formed for the creation of the laboratory. Three scientists have completed theses on this topic, their works are published in highly rated scientific journals. And the involvement of students, undergraduates, postgraduates in research activities in order to train specialists will strengthen the workforce capacity.
Alexander Burkov, Chairman of the thermoelectric energy conversion section, stressed the necessity and timing of the laboratory where R&D works can be carried out.
Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BelSU, supported the initiative and ordered to develop a research plan for the near future along with an action plan.
