BelSu genetic research to help reach a new level for regional public healthcare service

Professor Mikhail Churnosov, Head of BelSu Department of Biomedical Disciplines, presented his report on the results of scientific activities and department development prospects. He said that BelSu scientific school of human genetics and medical genetics was recognized at the state level. According to Mikhail Churnosov, this will help switch to personalized medicine based on the individual genetic traits of a person.

The Department received 22 patents for invention in a period from 2018 to 2020. Its scientific achievements in medical genetics are highly implemented to applied medicine in Belgorod region.

Alexey Polonikov, Director of Research Institute of Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology at Kursk State Medical University, Professor of the Department of Biology, Medical Genetics and Ecology noted that appropriate and timely research directions were chosen.

During the discussion Special attention was given to the department development prospects. Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BelSU, ordered to make a proposal to develop the department scientific potential and to create a laboratory or a research center, as a part of the future research institute.
