The project headed by Professor Vladimir Bukhman of Cardiff University (United Kingdom) will be implemented due to the grant allocated for the development of genetic modelling and gene therapy technologies
Professor Oleg Polukhin, the Rector of Belgorod State University, discussed the key stages of the project for the development of modern genetic technologies with its participants.
While opening the conference, he noted that development of genetic technologies is one of the main goals of the university’s strategic project “Science of the XXI Century” and the grant programme supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
Speaking about the priorities, the project manager Professor of Cardiff University Vladimir Bukhman, noted that the plans for close perspective include opening a laboratory for modelling and gene therapy of human diseases as well as creating a line of humanised mice capable of producing the human alpha-synuclein protein.
Professor Mikhail Pokrovsky, the Director of BelSU Research Institute of Pharmacology of Living Systems, told in detail about the educational goals of the project planned to be solved.
Among the participants of the project discussion were also Andrey Peresypkin, the Vice-Rector for BelSU Strategic Development Programmes, Vadim Mishunin, the Director of the Department for Research and Innovation, Alexey Deikin, the Head of BelSU Joint Centre for Genetic Technologies and Mikhail Korokin, Professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology of Medical Institute.
