Projects by BelSU researchers won gold medals at the International Exhibition in Taiwan

Belgorod State University supported by the traditional partner – “Archimedes” Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies participated in the “KIDE 2021” International Exhibition of Inventions in Taiwan. Scientists from over 25 countries presented their scientific achievements at one of the largest exhibitions in Asia.

The gold medal was awarded to the research that enabled to isolate a strain of sp. B-3515 Jantinobacterium from the River Veselka that is capable the Violacein pigment and its derivatives synthesis – also known as an antibacterial, antifungal and anticancer agent. The project was implemented by a team of students and scientists from Regional Microbiology Centre, the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, and the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology of Belgorod State University.

Another highest award of the exhibition was taken by the joint development in the field of regenerative medicine carried out as part of the Belgorod World-Class REC Program “Innovative Solutions in Agri-Business” by the scientists from the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology and the Medical Institute of Belgorod State University. The researchers invented a method to deliver a secretion of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSC) capable of differentiating cells of skeletal, muscular and nervous tissues.
