Researchers from Belgorod State University presented the results of the study that enable to assess arterial hypertension knowledge of 5-6 year medical students from different regions of Russia and the Ukraine
The results of the first step in PHYSTARH study (“Physicians' and Undergraduates' Knowledge in AH Treatment”), a multipurpose project on knowledge assessment of physicians, Master students and undergraduate students in arterial hypertension treatment were published in the peer-reviewed scientific and practical journal “Systemic Hypertension” (included in the VAK list, indexed in RSCI on Web of Science).
314 Master students from six medical schools filled in an anonymous questionnaire including questions related to the diagnosis and choice of optimal medication for arterial hypertension (AH) treatment depending on the degree and characteristics of the condition.
The findings were compared with a similar study of 425 general practitioners from the same regions, and as a result, drawbacks were revealed for each group of the respondents.
The initiator, concept developer and coordinator of this project is Roman Bontsevich, Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology at Belgorod State University.
It is worth noting that the results of the study have been already applied by Medical Institute of Belgorod State University to amend certain educational programs according to the study recommendations.
