The Head of Belgorod State University Research Centre for Genomic Selection and the Director of L.K. Ernst Federal Science Centre for Animal Husbandry discussed cooperation prospects in the context of the import substitution programme
Eduard Snegin, the Head of the R&D Centre for Genomic Selection of Belgorod State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, met with Natalia Zinovieva, the Director of L.K. Ernst Federal Science Centre for Animal Husbandry (VIZh). The parties discussed the details of joint work in several perspective areas of scientific cooperation including development of practical and theoretical innovative material.
“The main area in which we intend to cooperate is import substitution in dairy farming in Belgorod region. This task will be solved through modern molecular genetic and bioinformation technologies”, Eduard Snegin stressed.
Eduard Snegin got acquainted with the work and facilities of VIZh departments including the Centre for Collective Use “Bioresources and Bioengineering of Farm Animals” as well as with the research conducted by the Centre scientists at the Laboratory of Functional and Evolutionary Genomics of Animals. He was explained the technology of laboratory control of milk quality by Alexander Sermyagin, the Head of the Department of Population Genetics and Genetic Basis of Animal Breeding, that is of particular interest within the framework of the prospective project.
As Eduard Snegin noted, the import substitution project in the field of dairy farming could be implemented as part of the “Priority 2030” Programme.
