The Supervisory Board of the World-Class REC “Innovative Solutions in Agri-Business” headed by Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov approved 11 fundamental research topics.
While opening the conference, the Deputy Governor Dmitry Gladsky pointed out that the pilot project initiated by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education requires that the research undergo approval at the regional level prior to evaluation by the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Researchers from Belgorod State University presented seven research topics in the natural sciences and the humanities, four of them are directly related to the projects implemented at the REC platform.
The research initiated by Ulyana Krut, Associate Professor of Biotechnology and Microbiology at the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, the Head of Biological Research and Education Complex “Innovative Solutions” (BUNKIR), is focused on theoretical and applied aspects of the study of adaptive reactions of microorganisms. The research will involve BelSU Botanical Garden and Regional Microbiological Centre along with BUNKIR. The work is aimed at identification, isolation and overview of microorganisms strains which are resistant to various types of environmental contamination.
The fundamental research which was presented by Professor of the Institute of Geosciences Fyodor Lisetsky, the Director of FRC “Aerospace and Ground Site and Natural Resources Monitoring”, is focused on environmental and technosphere safety of agricultural and mining clusters in the system of balanced spatial development of the region. The research will be based on the programme of carbon balance monitoring network on the territory of Stary Oskol and Gubkin industrial district of Belgorod region which is already being implemented in the framework of REC “Innovative Solutions in Agri-Business”.
There were four topics of fundamental research in the humanities presented. The research topics were also presented by the scientists from V.G. Shukhov BSTU and Russian Technological University (MIREA). All 11 projects were approved by the REC Supervisory Board and recommended to be submitted to the Russian Academy of Sciences for expert evaluation.
