Four gold and five silver medals for the projects under REC “Innovative solutions in agri-Business” and “Priority-2030” Program were added to the pool of scientific achievements of Belgorod State University.
Projects in different fields were marked with awards as a result of the competition “The Year’s Best Innovative Project and Best Scientific and Technical Development” organized at the International Innovations Exhibition HI-TECH in St. Petersburg.
Two gold medals were awarded to the projects by BelSU Engineering Centre headed by Ivan Nikulin, Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering Materials Science. The researchers proposed a highly efficient and environmentally friendly technology to recycle gypsum-containing industrial waste to be further utilized in production of sulphur-containing organo-mineral fertilizers with added nitrogen content for metallurgical industry.
The top competition award went to the method for bulk thermoelectric materials production based on submicron bismuth telluride particles with controlled morphology which was developed by the team of scientists from the Technologies and Materials Common Use Centre at Belgorod State University.
According to the project manager Maxim Yapryntsev, the innovative technology makes it possible to efficiently convert waste heat energy into electricity which will find application in power engineering, refrigeration engineering, chemistry, biology, and some other areas.
“Gold” medal was given to the dental alloy based on the cobalt-chrome (Co-Cr) system developed by the scientists at Belgorod State University. Doctor of Engineering Science Sergey Zherebtsov noted that the project has been implemented jointly with the BelSU industrial partner VladMiVa and received financial support by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
Other five promising developments by BelSU research teams were awarded silver medals in the competition for the best innovative project of the year.
