International students demonstrate excellent knowledge of Russian language

The Competition “Time to speak Russian!” organized by the Russian Language, Professional Oral and Intercultural Communication Department and the Preparatory Department was held at Belgorod State University. Among the participants were the 1^st and 2^nd year international students, students of Preparatory Departments from other Russian universities, neighboring and far-abroad countries.

It notable that this is the second year when high school pupils from neighboring and far-abroad countries are involved in the event together with the students of the university’s academic departments and Preparatory Department. This year students from China, Turkmenistan, Kirgizia and the Syrian Arab Republic demonstrated their knowledge of Russian language.

Vladislav Kuchmisty, BelSU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, the Chairman of the Competition Organizing Committee, welcomed the winners and prize-winners of the competition while opening the awarding ceremony.

“This competition will contribute to popularizing the language and the culture of Russia. It is important to protect our national languages, to care for them, to develop them, so that as many people as possible could speak these languages”, emphasized Vladislav Kuchmisty and thanked all the participants for their interest in learning Russian language and culture.
