A team of young scientists at Belgorod State University Medical Institute is working on the project aimed to overcome dependence on expensive
needle-catheter import and enhance medical care.
Anastasia Belashova, a fifth-year student of Belgorod State University Medical Institute Anastasia Belashova received a grant to develop a universal atraumatic drainage delivery system. Anastasia works as a nurse at Purulent Surgery Department of Belgorod City Hospital No. 2 together with her father and a surgeon Viktor Belashov. The idea for the new device came during the recent abscess drainage.
The invention will serve import substitution, since needle-catheters and trocars currently used in medicine are made abroad. Their installation is controlled by an ultrasound scan. The novel universal device will make it possible avoid the use of imported disposable consumables.
A stainless steel prototype of the system has been already designed. The prototype production and testing will be funded by the grant obtained due to the victory in the regional contest “Innovator”, which was held among young researchers of Belgorod region. Anastasia’s project received the financial support of 500,000 roubles for two years. The scientist will work on development of the universal atraumatic drainage delivery system in the team of young scientists from Belgorod State University.
