The grand opening of the new thematic lecture hall in the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications was timed to the celebration of the 146th anniversary of Belgorod State University.
The educational space "Russian Philosophy: Great Names" was created for the 100th anniversary of the mass expulsion of prominent figures of science and culture from the Soviet Union. The lecture hall houses portraits, statements and symbolic images of Russian philosophers of different generations, schools and trends. There are also scientists from Belgorod: Nikolai Strakhov, Yuriy Govorukha-Otrok, Nikolai Stankevich.
Opening the new educational space, Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BelSU, noted that the "Russian Philosophy: Great Names" was the 67th memorable classroom: before it opened, the university had 35 personalised and 31 thematic audiences.
Sergey Borisov, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications, noted that in addition to lectures, interdisciplinary training sessions, thematic meetings and roundtables will be held in the classroom, including in a remote format. He suggested a roundtable discussion on the importance of studying philosophical thought, as well as the presentation of student research discoveries.
Pavel Olkhov, Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Theology, talking about the contribution of Belgorod State University to the study of Russian philosophical thought, noted that the scientists of the University are regular participants of international conferences and seminars. Their thoughts in the field of hermeneutics are listened to, and their works on the study of the philosophical heritage of Nikolai Strakhov are appreciated in the country and the world. As a proof of active participation of the Department of Philosophy and Theology in scientific life of the country Pavel Anatolievich reminded the participants of the meeting that a section of the big International Internet-Conference devoted to the 100th anniversary of The Philosophy Steamer is expected to start its work in BelSU next week. Fourteen speakers from the University will participate in the Conference.
