Professor of Belgorod State University took part in a major international seminar on the life and works of the Russian philosopher Mikhail Bakhtin. The seminar was held at the at the territory of Ogarev MRSU campus in Saransk.
Pavel Olkhov, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Theology, Head of the MNIC Intellectual History of Russia and Regional Biographical Studies, gave a plenary report at the international seminar "Mikhail Bakhtin: Approaches to Biography".
“Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin is a Russian philosopher and the largest representative of Russian hermeneutics which is an "interpretive" philosophy. Russian hermeneutics was founded by Nikolai Strakhov, a Belgorod-born Russian philosopher. Mikhail Bakhtin studied the dialogical principles of thinking and socio-personal practices of human behavior, the work of F.M. Dostoevsky and N.V. Gogol, I. Goethe and F. Rabelais, folk humorous culture, novel chronotopes and much more. The question of the scientific biography of this thinker, which became the key question at the seminar, is one of the most difficult in modern Bakhtinistics”, Pavel Anatolyevich said.
In a lively discussion on the report of Pavel Olkhov, the perspectives of the study of the creative heritage of M. M. Bakhtin were clarified. They also discussed the measure of participation of the MNIC "Intellectual History of Russia and regional Biographical Studies" in further cooperation with the Bakhtin Center.
The seminar featured presentations by leading Bakhtin scientists: Vitaly Makhlin, Nikolai Nikolaev, Oleg Ossovsky, Igor Peshkov and other scientists from Russia, China, Latin America, Israel and other countries. Russian scientists were represented by St. Petersburg University, the Higher School of Economics (Moscow), the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Belgorod, Oryol, Mordovian State Universities.
