The students and staff of Belgorod State University participated in a round table discussion as part of the “Traditions Keepers” Interethnic Women's Forum.
The “Traditions Keepers” Interethnic Women's Forum is a project on interethnic women's communication based on popularization of traditional cultures. The leader of the forum is Oksana Yakovenko, a lecturer of the Department of International Tourism and Hospitality at BelSU Institute of Economics and Management.
Due to the support of BelSU Centre for Intercultural Communication, the Assembly of Peoples of Russia and the Institute for Cross-Border Cooperation and Integration and involvement the Ministry of Public Communications of Belgorod Region, an online round table was organized in the context of the forum.
Over 100 people attended the broadcast, shared their cultural experience and interesting observations from different countries, talked about the household traditions and family life of their nations. The students learned about the peculiarities of child-rearing in the Netherlands, the history of Ecuadorian women's struggle for their rights, mysterious legends and holidays in Romania, learned about the importance of family and the role of women in China, Colombia, discovered the secrets of Georgian hospitality and Greek values, had a discussion about the best recipe of the Belarusian draniki.
According to Zamira Baltina, a four-year student, the Head of Tajik Student Community and the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Institute of Economics and Management, the event brought great impressions and unforgettable experiences.
The forum leader Oksana Yakovenko reminded the roundtable participants that the next event would assume the “Traditions Keepers” forum on 20th November. It will be held at “Oktyabr” and cover the family and self-actualization issues.
