Issues of teaching Russian to international students discussed at BelSU

The seminar dedicated to special methods of teaching Russian language was held via videoconferencing and brought together over 70 participants. The welcoming speech was made by Olga Prokhorova, the Director of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations.

“Our seminar enables us to share extensive experience in teaching Russian to international students, who are staying in Russia and foreign counties, supporting partnership relationships”, said Olga Prokhorova and wished productive work to the participants.

The seminar was attended by the teaching staff of BelSU Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication, scientists from other Russian universities, as well as colleagues from China and Monaco. It is worth mentioning that the event audience included both experienced, highly qualified teachers, who have worked with international students for many years, and young teachers, who are just starting their professional career.

The seminar participants delivered speeches on the theory and practice of teaching Russian language in different linguistic and cultural environments, the problems of language and cross-cultural communication, interactive technologies in teaching Russian language. The seminar participants discussed the role of extracurricular activities as a tool for developing professional competence, teaching speech and digital etiquette to international students. Much attention was paid to the linguistic environment as a factor for developing international students' communicative skills.

The results of the seminar helped to outline the prospects and formats for further comprehensive work with international students, discuss opportunities for inter-university cooperation in training foreign specialists and promotion of Russian language abroad.
