The leading Russian video portal “Territoria Pervikh” has launched a series of mini semidocumentary films about famous people born in the 20th century.
Natalia Maidanova's project “Children of the 20th Century. Little Stories of Great Victories” has been implemented with the support of ANO “Internet Development Institute” and represents a series of mini-films about people, whose childhood fell on the 20th century. Among the heroes of the series are scientists, doctors, athletes, teachers, military personnel and many others. The first season consists of 20 reels.
Among the heroes of the series are graduating BelSU students – Svetlana Khorkina, a famous gymnast, and Ekaterina Ivanova, a medical assistant of the surgery department. The mini-films are made as feature films, the narration is given on behalf of the hero of the story.
Svetlana Khorkina told about her difficult path to sport victories and her childhood, travelling between sports school, studies and an ordinary family-type hostel, where the future Olympic champion had lived with her parents. At the end of the story the athlete noted that any Russian could achieve his or her goal, if working hard to attain it and not giving up.
Yekaterina Ivanova said that as a child she had no idea of becoming a doctor – she had been interested in sport and health and safety classes. She also liked nursing sick animals. As a result, military medicine became the core of all the interests, so she entered to BelSU Medical College. Later on she decided to commit herself to Russian Armed Forces.
Yekaterina participated in the armed forces operation aimed to defend LNR and DNR since its first days. She treated wounded soldiers and commanders. In February 2022 her medical car came under shelling. The girl together with her companion Maria rescued the soldiers from shelling, when they were wounded, but continued to help the soldiers. Both girls were awarded Medal “For Courage”, and received it at the hospital from Sergei Shoygu, the Russian Defense Minister.
