The Centre for Intercultural Communication hosted a meeting with students from Syria to support their relatives affected by the devastating earthquake.
While addressing the students on behalf of the Rector of Belgorod State University Oleg Polukhin, Vladislav Kuchmisty, the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, expressed deep condolences to the families of the injured people and those who suffered from the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey affecting fourteen other countries.
Tatiana Nikulina, the Director of the Social Policy Department, reminded the students of the welfare support provided by the university. She stressed that the entire BelSU staff of many thousands is like a big multinational family, and as in any families, everyone helps each other and does not stay indifferent to the troubles of close people.
106 students from Syria, studying currently at the university, thanked the administration of the university for the meeting, which was held in frank atmosphere and unanimous support. Al Khabbaz Yaman, a 4th year medical student, said that students from Syria and other countries had always felt support and attention both from the university and the state.
The SAR embassy in Russia has launched fundraising campaign to help those suffered from the earthquake. Anyone is welcome to take part in the campaign with any amount.
