The first event aimed at building and improving legal awareness of international students was held at Peoples’ Friendship Centre of Belgorod State University.
Peoples' Friendship Centre of Belgorod State University continue improving socialization of international students in Russian environment and culture. The university has launched a series of educational events aimed to assist in understanding the national legislation as well as the rights and obligations of every foreign citizen staying in the country.
Olga Lyutova, the Director of the Centre, welcomed the participants and explained the specifics of the new series of events. Ekaterina Suprunenko, the Head of the Department for Registration, Residence and Visa Support of BelSU International Cooperation Office, acted as an expert.
The first meeting was dedicated to the topic “Temporary Residence Permit for Educational Purposes (RVPO)”. This issue was of great interest to many students. Ekaterina told the students from Colombia, Iraq, Syria, Ecuador, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Haiti and Uzbekistan about the procedure of getting RVPO, the rights and obligations of international students, who acquire a new status. Olga Lyutova presented the algorithm of actions to be taken by the final year students when applying for RVPO.
At the end of the event Ekaterina Suprunenko answered the students' questions about the difference between RVPO, temporary residence permit, residence permit and citizenship.
The events session “Your Rights and Obligations” will be continued in April.
