As part of Teacher and Mentor Year, the Centre for Intercultural Communication and the Centre for Civic and Patriotic Education of Belgorod State University continue implementing the joint project dedicated to famous Russian scholars.
The series of information events for international students continued with an educational session dedicated to Konstantin Ushinsky, a great Russian scholar, writer, and founder of scientific pedagogy in Russia, who would have turned 200 in 2023.
International students learned biographical facts about Konstantin Ushinsky, his studies and work at Moscow State University, the innovative work at Gatchina Orphanage Institute and Smolny Institute for Noble Maidens, where he managed to make significant progressive changes.
Inna Kuznetsova, the Director of the Centre for Students’ Civic and Patriotic Education, pointed out that Konstantin Ushinsky was had been loved by teachers, children and their parents, being the only teacher in pre-revolutionary Russia, who could become so outstanding.
Kristina Khabarova, the Director of the Centre for Intercultural Communication, pointed out that name of the great educator was immortalized in many educational institutions, streets of Russian cities and libraries Moreover, since 2010 the medal named after K. Ushinsky has been launched to mark the best pedagogical figures, making a significant input in the development of the theory and history of education, improvement of methods of teaching and education of the younger generation, cultural and moral development of an individual, creation of the best textbooks.
